This is not just a class—it’s a future-focused challenge! Learn about cutting-edge solutions inspired by nature, and have fun doing it! Engage in hands-on activities that include microscope exploration, creation of a biomimicry inspired product using the Engineering Design Process, and a chance to pitch a product, like a true innovator. Let’s create something inspired by nature that could change the world!

Middle school students are invited to explore the fascinating world of nature and engineering in “Engineering the Future using Biomimicry” Saturday Academy at Wayne Valley High School.

  • Learn how nature’s adaptations can lead to amazing inventions like Velcro, sharkskin-inspired swimsuits, honey-comb shaped buildings, and more!
  • Dive into the Engineering Design Process—brainstorm, prototype, test, and iterate creative solutions to problems.
  • Use nature’s strategies to build a biomimicry-inspired model and pitch it to a panel of judges using the principles of marketing.

Discover how 3.7 billion years of life on Earth have inspired groundbreaking inventions that solve real-world challenges.
